What Is GMAT?
Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a popularly-accepted exam for students who want to get admitted to a Master of Business Administration (MBA) globally. According to the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), GMAT has wide acceptance compared to other management exams and worldwide nine out of 10 MBA admissions are done considering the GMAT score. This test helps universities and colleges to analyze the capabilities of a candidate in terms of verbal reasoning and quantitative sections. Although the GMAT test is to get admitted to the MBA, candidates are not required to prepare anything related to subject management for the test. The GMAT exam determines the verbal skills and basic math that you need to survive your Business School academics. So, students who do not belong to a management background need not be worried about the GMAT test or its preparation. GMAT Online Exam OverviewThe GMAT online test helps the students to take the exam from the comfort of their homes as it is a remote proctored version of the test center-based GMAT exam. GMAT Syllabus 2023Let鈥檚 understand some detailed syllabus of the sections mentioned above: Analytical Writing AssessmentThis section will have topics on which the students are required to write or a passage on which the questions will be asked. The topic of the passage can be anything of interest. The main motive is to test the taker鈥檚 ability to focus on the answer structure rather than the arguments presented. It would be a safe side if the students have a neutral opinion as it is a writing style more than an opinion based. Integrated ReasoningThis section judges the students on their ability to evaluate data presented either in the table or graph format. Graphics Interpretations test the capability of the test taker to interpret the data presented in the form of graphs or graphical images to make inferences and find out their relations.Multi-source Reasoning is a combination of data from graphs, tables and text passages and the taker needs to analyze each source to answer multiple questions.Table Analysis consists of a table comprising data like a spreadsheet, analyzing it and determining its importance or the one that meets definite conditions.Two-Part Analysis are complex problems, basically a combination of verbal and quantitative questions. QuantitativeThis section will have objective questions with multiple-choice answers and is further divided into two sections. The Problem Solving section requires the candidate to analyze the problem with logic and reasoning.Data Sufficiency is a quantitative problem that requires candidates to identify the importance of data and determine when it is enough to solve the problem. VerbalThis section tests the ability of the candidates to comprehend the written material and analyze the logical relationship between the pointers mentioned in the context. Sentence Correction analyzes the ability of the test taker in terms of expressing an idea concisely and grammatically structured. Reading Comprehension includes the candidate’s ability to apply, the main idea, logical structure, inference and style with such reading skills.Critical Reasoning tests the ability of a candidate to evaluate arguments, make an argument and evaluate or formulate a plan of action. Eligibility For GMATTo be eligible for GMAT a candidate needs to be graduated in a business and/or management program from a degree-granting institution. The programs are not restricted to business schools. For instance, an art management program in a school of arts and sciences or a health management program in a school of public health may make a student eligible to receive GMAT scores. Your degree should be authorized by the government body or department of education that grants higher education degrees.
